Bean to Bar Chocolate Making Experience

In our bean-to-bar workshop, you will learn how to make a chocolate bar starting with the cocoa bean itself. Molly guides you through this remarkable transformation step by step, weaving together hands-on making, tasting and the rich story of chocolate.
The experience begins with a guided journey through chocolate’s past. You will taste chocolate at key moments in its evolution, from raw cocoa used by the Mayan and Aztec civilisations to the refined styles enjoyed in the European courts. Flavours move from spiced Aztec cocoa with chilli and vanilla through to contemporary fine chocolate. Along the way, Molly shares how chocolate travelled across cultures, how it was embraced in Europe and how the modern chocolate bar came to be.
Once the tasting journey is underway, you will begin making chocolate yourself. You will handle cocoa beans, learn how they are roasted and discover the winnowing process. Using a pestle and mortar, you will grind the nibs into chocolate, tasting at each stage as the texture and flavour shift and deepen. This gradual change releases new flavour notes and creates a vivid sensory experience.
The workshop takes place at your address, bringing the full Atelier experience into your home or chosen venue. Everything is provided, with time to ask questions, taste generously and work at a relaxed pace.
Take home
Each participant leaves with four handmade, individual chocolate bars, beautifully wrapped in Atelier Chocolates packaging and ready to enjoy or gift.
